COVID-19

Rush Homes prioritizes the health and well-being of our tenant families, our staff, and our community. As such, we are continually seeking and following the best guidance possible as we grapple with COVID-19. Because of their disabilities, underlying health issues, and ages, most of our tenant families are among those most at risk of poor outcomes if they are exposed.

Racism

Rush Homes actively pursues equity for all. We honor and practice Fair Housing and equity in all our work.

We denounce any practice that undermines the humanity of any other person or groups of people due to their disability, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, familial status, age, national origin, religion, source of income or any combination.

Systemic racism has no place in our organization, society, nation, or world. We witness the violence perpetrated against Black men and women; we condemn any and all acts of violence perpetrated against any person because of race now, in our past, and in our future. We oppose any policies and practices that allow continuing, racially inspired violence and we stand with calls for change. Further, we will participate with civil society to make change happen. The violence and oppression must stop.

Systemic racism and discrimination has and continues to cause barriers to affordable housing for everyone. Racism has existed for too long in housing as seen, for example, in historic redlining practices. Continued discrimination results in people victimized by poverty, substandard housing, and family instability. We understand the need for housing equity through our work providing housing for people with disabilities, work that extends to eliminating racial discrimination.

Rush Homes understands that change must start with us. We are committed to change and will work to root out and eliminate discrimination in our own practices, also working with our partners and community to support equity for everyone.
